Driving Tips for Safe Driving with AOK-Driving

🚗 Common Mistakes Learner Drivers Make Introduction

In-experienced drivers can use lessons to work on weaker skill areas and improve overall driving safety, reducing the risk to you and others on the road

1️⃣ Not Following Posted Speed Limits

  Always be aware of the posted speed limits.

Adjust your speed for school zones and changing traffic conditions.


Staying within the limit shows awareness, control, and responsibility.


Learner drivers must never exceed 90 km/h

Always be fully aware of your surroundings.

Check your mirrors every few seconds — including rearview, driver’s side, and passenger’s side.


Regular mirror checks help you anticipate traffic movement and potential hazards.

You must perform head checks to check your blind spots.

Turn your head, 'chin to shoulder' 90° to the side and behind you when are:

  • Leaving or moving to the kerb
  • Changing lanes or merging
  • Turn at intersections or roundabouts
  • Exiting a roundabout
  • moving direction > half a car width
  • Completing a 3-point turn or reverse park

Always come to a full stop at every stop line.


Stop within 1m of the line (do not have front bumper over the line) 


Once stopped. Stay Stopped. Don't creep forward


Not stopping behind the line will result in test failure

  You must signal for at least 5 seconds before leaving a parked position. 


Signal when:

  • Turning at intersections
  • Changing lanes
  • Turning right at, or exiting a roundabout


Signaling keeps all road users safe and aware that you intend to turn\change direction.
